Trust Leads to Obey

“When we walk with the Lord In the light of His Word

What a glory He sheds on our way.

When we do His good will, He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and Obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus,

But to trust and Obey.”

We used to sing that song in church.

What we sing makes a big difference in what we believe.

And how we act.

Music is a great way to glue important ideas into ones memory.

A little hint of a line, of words, or melody, and the ideas jump to the front of our thinking.

What we listen to, what we watch, what we laugh at or applaud, imprints on the mind, the will, the spiritual consciousness, the Headquarters of Making Decisions.

“Music hath charms to soothe the savage beast.”

As we can see in society today, music has charms to also create the savage beast.

It is important to be careful and be informed and make careful decisions.

Quiet is Important.

Many people go through an entire day without experiencing any silence.

Yet we are told that it is in a ‘still, small voice’ that God often presents Himself to us. I’m certain that many of us miss out on that call from Him, because of the competing noise.

Believe precedes Trust.

Trust toward God is quite a bit different from trusting your banker – or even trusting your spouse.

God Created me.

Because God knows me, He knows exactly how I need to live in order to get the most out of the life and living that He continues to give me.

Following God’s Plan is called Obedience.

Trust and Obey is the only way to be happy. Truly Happy.

You know that I’m not referring to laughing, smiling, enjoying a roller coaster ride!

Happy is a state of contentment, free from worry about what and how and when and where and why.

Happy is the confident assurance that Heaven is Home, and God is my Father waiting to welcome me.

Trust produces Happy.

Sing about Heaven. Fill your mind with the promises that the Bible contains about Heaven.

Obviously, I don’t mean to indicate that you can’t break into a rousing rendition of “Old McDonald” now and then.

One of my favorite songs originates during the time of my courtship of my wife. “And I Love You So.”

The melody brings a warm feeling of contentment, and the lyrics emphasize my love for her and hers for me.

Nothing detrimental there.

Certain rhythms have a debilitating effect on the central nervous system. Satan knows and uses these to his advantage and our disadvantage. Certain music, although having the ‘right words’ are set to a dangerous rhythm.

Absence of Trust in History

I’m reading through the books of Kings and Chronicles in the Bible. Over and over we find that the disobedience of the Israelites was accompanied by a music that made them submissive to the devil worship with all of its physical and moral degradation.

Trust that God asks nothing of us that is degrading of our own lives or the lives of others.

Trust that obeying God will provide happiness and enjoyment and fulfillment.

Trust that you are in His care.

Trust Him and Obey His instructions.

Now, to get a clear understanding of ‘Who He Is’ and ‘What It Means To Obey’ we have to become knowledgeable in His Owner’s Manual – His Open Letter to the Universe – The Holy Bible.
